Arth Daniels
‘Itsa Bitsa, Face And Bone’
StolenSpace Gallery (East London)
23.04.10 – 09.05.10After making his mark in the artworld exhibiting in the BP National Portrait awards 2007 where he was ranked amongst the top 20 international portraiture artists, StolenSpace presents the premier solo show of Arth Daniels.
Arth Daniels was born and raised in Highbury, North London. Drawing influence from an eclectic mix of fine, traditional and street art, Arth Daniels’ work is a culmination of many disciplines. With an Illustration background and furthering independent studies into fine art, Arth takes it upon himself to develop his own mix of fractured photorealism. Using the traditional medium of oil paint, Daniels displays a departure from its humdrum associations by offering a self taught and fresh approach; combining hints of flair with
painstaking detail. As his work progresses its primary focus is to develop portraiture without explicit use of the human face alone; but to explore its many facets of expression. Creating a Jigsaw of facial references his aim is to propose a figurative depiction of the face and its capabilities without being literal. Using Mixed Media Assemblage Arth creates multi layered images for his audience to piece together themselves. With no intension to shy away from the ‘graphic’ image Daniels’ work can often be confrontational without unwarranted arrest; using objects that are generally dismissed for their jovial and sometimes kitsch nature his work often embodies a darker undertone.
I just received this joint out of the blue in my inbox from a Kentucky rapper who goes by the name of Jalin Roze. This kid is dope and has his own style….I need to hear more though before I can form a solid opinion.
Now I never ever write R.I.P. posts, but this one is having a huge effect on me. Guru, 1/2 of the legendary group Gangstarr, passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer. His music has played a huge part in my life as far as what has made the producer/Dj that I am today. I remember when I first heard Mass Appeal (I taped it on VHS) and thought it was sooo dope, I grabbed a pen and my rhyme notebook (you know the ones with the black/white snow covers) and jotted down all the lyrics just so I could recite them to….myself (I know I’m not the only one that did this). Anyways, we lost another great but he will be remembered and celebrated through his catalog of classics.
Rest in Power

The ArchAndroid Crown: Designed by Zoman Ignatius, the half-elf,
half-human mystic, reportedly 500 years ago. According to legend, the
crown has several magic properties, as well as innovative technologies
that can be employed only by The ArchAndroid. Zoman was a consummate
inventor, artist and sculptor, a cross between Tesla and Da Vinci, and
as such, he designed the crown to be a work of beauty that would
embody the very spirit of Metropolis. According to legend, the crown
features prominent Metropolis buildings and towers that will light up
radiantly when the one and only true ArchAndroid wears the crown.
According to the Daily Horos, this opulent headdress was stolen from
the vaults in the Black House, reportedly by 1954, in October of 2715.
Several members of 1954 were hunted down and executed for this crime.
But the crown was never found. Many claim it has been secreted away
to the Wonderground. There is also word that in the year 2010,
several 1954 operatives have crafted a replica of this historic
headdress to be worn by Janelle Monáe in anticipation for her album
The ArchAndroid…no word on whether or not this replica has magic
properties… The Living Cyktionary, 9th Edition, 2719
