Hungry?? Here, Have Some Chips

Let me start by saying that I’m not big on conspiracy theories or talk of New World Order, but after watching this clip I realized that we may not be too far off. If you thought HMO medical plans were controlling (I know from experience), medical insurance companies are taking it a step further with microchip implants. Of course they’re telling us it is for the patient’s benefit only, but I think ulterior motives are being set in place. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…..

Amazon Wants a Piece of My Space

It looks like Amazon wants in on the whole MySpace Music ordeal. According to TechCrunch,

MySpace Music will likely partner with Amazon to handle all music e-commerce transactions, we’ve heard from multiple sources. Apple and Rhapsody are also bidding for the business, however, and one source says a final decision hasn’t yet been made.

I’m not sure exactly how well this whole MySpace Music will hold up but if Apple wins this bid it might be in MySpace’s best interest. One question comes to mind though, what happens to everybody that is on the current platform. Will they all be migrated to this new MySpace Music platform? I’m assuming so because it would be ridiculous to have everyone start from scratch, but what about those profiles that aren’t bands? Will they be forced into purchasing a subscription? If so, that may leave a bad taste in the user’s mouth leading to a not so great launch of their new service. I guess we’ll find out in a couple of months as the company unfolds (or folds).

MacBook Touch…..Could It Be???

I’m not sure how much truth this holds, but this is the alleged Mac Book Touch that is scheduled to be released in October. With the emergence of all of the touch screen products we’ve been seeing, it is not that far fetched to see Apple’s rendition. And my sources tell me……..well, nevermind…….I have no sources. Let the gossip commence nerds.

Microsoft Brings Nerd Technology to “Surface”

Video: Microsoft Surface at the Rio in Las Vegas

For once Microsoft has beaten Steve (Steve Jobs – Apple) to the punch with this one. Pay attention all you fresh nerds…. the Microsoft Surface is an interactive touch-screen surface that is available now at the Rio in Las Vegas. I can’t really describe in words the different applications that this bad boy houses but, the video describes it all. Well almost, they are also developing a grand piano application for the Surface (for all you virtual pianists).

Here are the specs:

- a 30-inch (76 cm) display in a table-like form factor, 22 inches (56 cm) high, 21 inches (53 cm) deep, and 42 inches (107 cm) wide
- the tabletop is acrylic, and its interior frame is powder-coated steel
- the software platform runs on a custom version of Windows Vista and has wired Ethernet 10/100, wireless 802.11 b/g, and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity
- applications are written using either Windows Presentation Foundation or Microsoft XNA technology

“Maximum” setup the Microsoft Surface is going to have:

* Intel Core Quad Xeon “WoodCrest” @ 2.66GHz
* 4GB DDR2-1066 RAM
* 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive

iLike

What happens when myspace and iTunes “hook up” after a long night of patron shots? iLike is born nine months later. iLike is not just another social network (at least I don’t think, I haven’t signed up yet). It seems to be a cool concept where users can share music and also get free downloads from new artists/bands. This would probably be a great tool for artists as well when it comes to marketing to the right listeners unlike myspace (sorry, Tom). In any event, I will create an account and see what they have going on, but I wanted to share the wealth with you nerds as soon as I found it. They seem to be growing exponentially as they are currently at 25 million users. Still not close to the amount of myspace users (over 100 million), but they seem to be gaining attention. Feel free to check out their website for yourself for more information. Until next time…..now back to my Janelle Monae EP. Lates…..

FreshPick: Madlib/Talib Kweli – Liberation(Album)

Yes, this album is over a year old but, some of you are still sleeping hard on this one. I’ll even go as far as saying that this album ranks up there with the Champion Sound – Jaylib album. Projects like this allow me to fall in love with hip hop music all over again. Listen up….. Continue reading →
