The Oakland, CA artist has an incredible voice and solid production to go along with it. Another Kentucky artist hit me up recently with some of his music and like I said before, it is an untapped market. There seems to be a lot of good hip hop coming out of that state as of lately. Naming Joe Budden and Phonte as his main inspirations, Devine delivers solid bars of non-gun talk while maintaining a professional flow to get his point across. He should be sending over his mixtape for us to check out shortly and I’m looking forward to hearing more of what he has in store.

I love getting these random emails. Will from a collective called Members Only out of Seattle sent me over this record from one of their groups called State of the Artist. The track is definitely a dope hybrid of Cali and Seattle while the MC’s flow over the given result with effortless ease. Not forced at all and a sound all their own. Eat good, sh*t good…..

Lexington Kentucky’s own, Nemo, delivers a brand new EP this week titled the North Star. Nemo originally caught my eye with a joint he did earlier this summer, Memories, which stood out amongst the 50 or so tracks I listen to daily. The North Star Ep shines in the light of live music combined with electronic elements and smooth but raw delivery. At a fairly young age, Nemo seems to be creating quality music while keeping in the lane he created. Definitely worth the download and more, enjoy…..

Nemo’s been on my radar ever since Wes sent me his ‘Memories’ joint. This kid is gonna do well if he keeps at it for 3 reasons;

1) He is in his own lane and doesn’t try to be anybody but himself
2) He is in a part of the U.S. that has yet to fully get respect when it comes to hip hop (Lexington, KY)
3) He can flow

Saw this posted in my Facebook stream by fellow music connoisseur  Jilly and had to snatch it up for my fellow nerds.  Kings Go Forth is a band from Milwaukee that brings back what music of today has been missing, a pulse. Definitely check out the rest of their debut album, The Outsiders are Back, and pick up some of their 45′s while you’re at it. I came across this joint over at this dope blog and it sparked my curiosity as the lyrics were honest and his tone is not the usual. Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) is well known as a writer for NBC’s 30 Rock and for his stand-up comedy. I will say he is not the greatest singer but I dig his music for its out of the box creativity and catchy pop melodies (oh and he rhymes too).

Talk about being mad late lately (see what I did there?)….I’ve been reading and watching interviews by this D.C. native due to his in-depth knowledge on being a successful indie. Not sure why I am just getting around to peepin’ his music, but I’m mad I slept. Oddisee has done work with numerous indie artists and has various projects all going at once.
