This joint is off of Label Love Vol. 2 which was released yesterday. Do yourself a favor and check out the complete compilation compiled and presented by label heads from Melting Pot, Ninja Tune, One-Handed , Plug Research, Tru Thoughts and Ubiquity.

My teacher put me on to this kid’s music last week and I must admit….very different/dope but still easy to swallow. I’ll be looking into more of his catalog as soon as I get a free second. I’m sure he’ll be a household name in the next couple of years.

I’m not sure if I’m late on Hot Sugar, but this kid has a very interesting approach to music. I came across him in a Creative Control video showing how he creates sounds with a guy that has a face tattoo (no, really). After seeing that rather unique clip, I decided to do a little further research on Nick “Hot Sugar” Koenig and came across this dope song featuring Aaron Livingston. I think its the combination of Aaron’s unique yet raspy voice and Nick’s use of non-standard sounds that does it for me. Looking forward to hear more from him…
