You can’t lose with this one. I won’t front, I was hesitant at first to hear a Curren$y project without Ski Beatz but I’m gonna go ahead and say Alc & Curren$y sound better together for some reason. If you like the work of early Prodigy & Alan, then hit play.

FreshIndie: Nemo – The North Star EP

– 420 High Street
Lexington Kentucky’s own, Nemo, delivers a brand new EP this week titled the North Star. Nemo originally caught my eye with a joint he did earlier this summer, Memories, which stood out amongst the 50 or so tracks I listen to daily. The North Star Ep shines in the light of live music combined with electronic elements and smooth but raw delivery. At a fairly young age, Nemo seems to be creating quality music while keeping in the lane he created. Definitely worth the download and more, enjoy…..

WTF: Juiceface
Those of you that know me, know that I have an odd sense of humor and usually find things funny that no one else gets. Well this falls nothing short of that. The band is called New Kingdom and after you watch this awesome commercial, download their latest project titled Naked Time. Their style is a fusion of rock/soul/funk….and some other stuff. Think Jack Splash on speed. Don’t say I didn’t warn you….

FreshEP: Graph Nobel – Something 2 Die 4

The Canadian 1/3 of Idle Warship (a.k.a my 7th wife) brings us an EP. I’m not sure when it dropped but it doesn’t really matter due to the timelessness of her music. Enjoy…

FreshIndie: Carlitta Durand – The Doug & Patty EP

“Doug’s Funny Love”
There are times when I think Twitter is completely useless, but then there are times like this which I’m thankful for technology. I sent a random tweet to this chick Carlitta and then decided to randomly download her EP from the link on her Twitter profile. Long story short…this EP is dope as hell. After reading up on her background, it turns out that I’m kinda late on this one….sorry nerds. Carlitta has already done work with the likes of 9th Wonder and Nicolay at such an early stage in her career.
The track featured here is (IMO) the best joint on the EP. Carlitta constructs a 2 part harmony throughout (I think it’s 2) a gritty, slow tempo track with a neck snappin’ snare. The entire EP is carried out and well executed over sick, dirty ass drums and samples that complement Carlitta’s jazzy phrasing and soulful melodies with effortless ease.
I’ll definitely go back and check the rest of her catalog after this find and will for sure watch out for her work in the future. Do yourself a favor and download the full EP if you want some creative soul music in your life.
