TGV Trains Get Bombed…

Graffiti that is….I spotted this initially over at Revok’s blog. The TGV trains provide service between Paris, Bruxelles and Amsterdam. Thalys, the European company providing the train, has invited SozyOne (Bruxelles), Jonone (Paris), Zedz (Amsterdam) and Seak (Cologne) to customize the train. Great way to meet the graf heads halfway. I think more train systems need to implement this school of thought.

FreshPick: Fly Gypsy ft. Kanye West – Reasons

Lets forget about what dumb ass did at the awards and get back to music. This is about Fly Gypsy anyways. Ever heard of them? Me neither until now. They’re a Jamaican – Russian duo out of Brooklyn. Interesting combination, but the duo does a great job on the Earth, Wind, and Fire sampled ‘Reasons‘. I’m looking forward to hearing more from these dudes.

New Age B-Girl: Ritzy Periwinkle

I came across Ritzy randomly from a gallery mailing list I am on and her work caught my eye instantaneously. Her style definitely has some urban/hip hop influences. And after I researched, I was right. L.A. based Marisa Estrada is an artist and designer with deep roots in the music culture. Ritzy has created art for Dilated Peoples, Aterciopelados, Sonic Youth, Calle 13, “I Am Legend”, Slick Rick, Arcade Fire and many more. Her name stems from a pseudonym that started among her and her crew, ”Maritza” and the Crayola color, “Periwinkle”. Definitely look out for Ritzy and check out her blog while you’re at it. More pics after the jump…
p.s. Ritzy….get at me so I can interview you

8 years later, Q-Tip gets his “Kamaal The Abstract” album put out by the label. I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad….*smh*

Toro y Moi – Talamak

Ok, nerds…I listen to weird shit…..weird but dope IMO. The best way I can describe this kid is Moby meets Madlib (I think, if you have a better description let me know). Representin’ South Carolina, Chad Bundick (pause) has a lo-fi pop/hip hop vibe going here that seemed to pull me in upon first listen for some reason. You’ll either love it or hate it….
