I came across Ritzy randomly from a gallery mailing list I am on and her work caught my eye instantaneously. Her style definitely has some urban/hip hop influences. And after I researched, I was right. L.A. based Marisa Estrada is an artist and designer with deep roots in the music culture. Ritzy has created art for Dilated Peoples, Aterciopelados, Sonic Youth, Calle 13, “I Am Legend”, Slick Rick, Arcade Fire and many more. Her name stems from a pseudonym that started among her and her crew, ”Maritza” and the Crayola color, “Periwinkle”. Definitely look out for Ritzy and check out her blog while you’re at it. More pics after the jump…
p.s. Ritzy….get at me so I can interview you
