I’m a sucker for gangster rap (sometimes). With that being said, Snoop brings us his first album where he takes a seat behind the boards as producer….Niggerachi to be exact. Bacc to the Chuuch v.1 will be available on Aug. 4th as digital download.
One of my favorite producers, Nicolay, will be releasing his new album on Sept. 15th. It is inspired by his trip to Tokyo and will feature instrumentals as well as some vocal tracks. If you’re not familiar with Nicolay, do yourself a favor and check out Foreign Exchange’s “Leave It All Behind” and thank me later.

I’ve been seeing and hearing about this dude around L.A. for a couple years now but today I finally decided to give a listen and uhhh….damn I’ve been sleeping. GLK is a part of the beat generation that resides out here in LA (i.e. Flying Lotus). His style is actually reminiscent of Mr. Lotus’ but a bit more gritty. I’m into a lot of crazy music (see SquarePusher) and this will definitely get some iPod love in the near future.
If you’re into Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings,then you will be sure to like these guys. While at a bar on Sunday enjoying a Corona, the DJ put this one on and I had to find out who and what it was. I guess I’m a little late on this band, but it’s all good. They’re an “Instrumental Staten-Island Afro-Soul” band. They consist of 11 members (changes from time to time) and they play instrumental music that is self-described as “Afro-Soul”. Check ‘em out.
