j. cole - the warm up mixtape
Still not sold on this cover work, but it’s all about the music. The highly anticipated mixtape dropped today. I haven’t found a free hour to listen to it yet, but I am sure it’s a classic.

Definitely one of the funniest clips from the good folks over at ItsThe Real in a while.
“I’m the Latin Teddy Ruxpin!!” – Joell Ortiz
As most of you may of noticed, I never post Charles Hamilton’s music nor say much about him (ok, maybe I posted once or twice) because I lost a lot of respect for dude after the Black Spade incident and now the J. Dilla incident. This vid breaks down Jay Smooth’s thoughts on what MAY be going on inside Charles’ head (pause) and he has a very good point. Definitely some good food for thought.

Hmm…..anyways, above artwork by Kaws. He’ll also be doing all of the artwork for their upcoming album, ‘Till The Casket Drops, which will be released in September.

I’ve always really had the sense of the way that people store things
inside their bodies and the way that everything you’ve ever seen or
ever done is a part of you…and I felt like in a way if I could somehow
draw that…or make an x-ray – maybe it was just your experiences that
day or maybe it’s just what you walked past that day, or maybe it’s a
deeper story that’s…somewhere in there for the telling.-SWOON

It was a dope LA event and the turn out was exceptional. I took some pics for those of you that couldn’t be there.
Check it out…

J Cole - The Warmup
It’s early as sh%* and I’m too tired to comprehend audible sounds in the form of music. I’m not a morning person, can you tell? New joint off of J Cole’s mixtape dropping soon….hopefully this isn’t the real artwork, sorry J.

Shout out to Steph for sending this joint over. I’m not gonna front, I slept on it for several days and I apologize. This is heat, the track is sick almost as sick as Danny Brown and Buff delivers like he usually does. Support indie hip hop you nerds….now back to Family Guy season 3….

Well, I’ve been holding out on hearing/posting this until the CDQ version was available because I really really really hate radio rips. Did I mention I hate radio rips? Anyways, I got word from an excited mix engineer saying that I need to listen to this.
Upon first listen, I wasn’t feelin’ this one too tough. Upon second listen, meh…it’s better than average overall but I do like the fact that he addresses the state of hip hop right now. I do agree with the auto tune thing as well, but some of his other points I can’t agree with. Hip hop now is not the same as it was in ’94. Hip hop in ’94 wasn’t the same as it was in ’88 either. My point is that hip hop, as with anything, is always evolving. Not sayin’ I rock skinny jeans (fiyah bun) but if that’s what hip hop has evolved into then thats what it is whether I agree with it or not. One man doesn’t and can’t tell a WHOLE culture how to dress, rhyme, or act.
I’m done with my rant….I definitely think this song is pretty good. Beat is dope, flow is sick….but I don’t think it’s better than Brooklyn Go Hard. Just my opinion….
oh yea….I almost forgot to post the link: download/listen
Not sure how I missed this one nerds but I apologize. Now that I look at the release date, I was in Miami probably drinkin’ a Call a Cab at the time this video was released. So I actually take my apology back, that’s a good enough reason. OB4CL2 Aug. 11th…..
