Nas & Damian Marley – Distant Relatives EPK
Definitely looks like this will be a positive project with purpose. I just hope the music comes across audibly well. I’m still kinda iffy on the first track that was sent over to me but maybe that will change as I hear more. I’m definitely looking forward to this.

FreshArt: Hugh MacLeod – Quality
I know many of you are thinking, “This isn’t art!!”. Some of you are probably thinking that I’ve lost my mind, but not yet. If you’re not familiar with Hugh MacLeod as of yet, get familiar. This guy turned his passion for drawing stupid cartoons on the back of business cards into a business. He has a new book which I just finished and I must say that it was life changing (kinda). His book is called “Ignore Everybody” and if you’re in any creative field, you NEED to read it. He makes some very valid points about creativity and as well gives you some of his almost famous art seen above. Check it out….trust me on this one.

FreshArt: Hank Willis Thomas – Basketball and Chain
Hank Willis Thomas holds no punches when it comes to getting his point across. The piece above is from his “Branded Series” in which he takes an ad that you may see day in and day out and shows the underlining racism that is present. His Branded series is definitely one that makes you think whether you agree with it or not. He uses the comparison of the NBA trade to the slave trade showing the similarities with a mashup of ads and images. Definitely something to think about…..

Pharrell Williams Interview Art 40 Basel 2009
Pharrell teams up with Takashi Murakami to create a sculpture that ended up selling for 2 million dollars. I respect the art, but I can’t say I actually like this piece.
