21 Questions with D.A. of Chester French

You’ve heard of Chester French by now. If not, get off of my blog and go back to your game of bingo. Chester French is the newest act signed to the Neptunes’ Star Trak label. Their sound is a mix of dope and awesome inspired by talent which is hard to come by these days. You know you’re doing something right when Pharrell trusts you with complete creative control (Chester French wrote and produced their whole album). The guys have finished their masterpiece of an album and have completed mixes (mixed by super engineer, Neal “motherf%*%in” Pogue). In layman’s terms, the album is coming very soon. Be on the lookout for the lead single “She Loves Everybody”.

Right now the duo are on serious grind mode doing back to back shows with N.E.R.D. & Common. I was able to catch the show at the Wiltern in L.A. (make sure you see it if you haven’t yet, you can view their tour dates here). Between shows, D.A. (Chester French lead vocalist) took some time out to answer FreshNerd’s crazy ass 21 question interview. Enjoy…..

FreshArt: Death to Television, Long Live Internet!!

Ok so that isn’t the actual name of this piece and I have no idea of the title nor creator. This was spotted over at Infart and their site is in French (I think). So anybody out there that can translate, throw me a frickin’ bone here. Until then, we’re sticking to my title…

Blood splatter close-up inside of post…

FreshPick: Chris Cornell – Part Of Me (prod. by Timbaland)

Well, we get a full track of the highly anticipated Chris x Tim project….so what’s the verdict you say?? I think it’s hot. I could’ve done without Tim’s hype in previous interviews, but nonetheless it’s kinda banging. Don’t expect to hear anything too different on the production from Tim, but do expect to hear a different side of Chris. I’m not sure how Audio Slave fans will feel about the new Cornell, but I know his new pop fans won’t mind it at all…..enjoy.

FreshPick??: Kanye West – Heartless (CDQ Snippet)

Sounded better live (de ja vu). I won’t be waiting on the release of this one anytime soon. What the hell is going on? This is probably one of the wackest beats I’ve heard in a minute (maybe the melody changes later in the song??). Damn ‘Ye, I expected this from Soulja Boy, but not you…(sigh)

FreshArt: Letter A by Blu

Letter A from blu on Vimeo.

Another dark, but dope piece by Blu. This guy is futuristic and it will only be a matter of time before artists start taking his style. This perfect combination of stop motion video and graffiti is something incredible.

FreshArt: Please God, Save Us (Book)

The cover art of this book says it all. With art by Derek Hess and text by Cleveland area politician, Kent Smith, this book is sure to stir up some emotions and question the current “powers” that be. “Please God Save Us” takes a variety of hot topics, ranging from religion to government and everything in between, and displays them in a thought-provoking and witty book. “The art itself was created as an outlet for my frustration with the current administration,” Hess says. “And I was obviously very frustrated as I produced enough pieces for an entire book.” Be sure to catch their book signing at a city near you throughout October while spreading their ideas and thoughts.
