FreshPick: John Legend ft. Andre 3000 – GreenLight
I know its not brand spanking new but my blog was born after this leak and my boy (shout out to Kerry) reminded of this heater. I still don’t know how I feel about John Legend saying “shake it”, but Dre’s verse makes up for that…..times 10. He proves why he should be on everybody’s top 10 list of fave MC’s (sorry BigBoi, we still love you). Classic material nerds……

Pharell Williams – Midnight Hour
Watch as musical nerd (that’s a compliment), Pharell, goes in and knocks out a heater in basically 10 minutes. The actual version that was released sounds like shit due to the fact that he switched the track up a little and the singer that ended up getting the song, Natasha Ramos, did no justice to this dope beat. Favorite parts of the video to watch for:
1) Camera man attempting to add his 2 cents in the writing process as Pharell ignores his dumbass
2) Chad strolling in non-chalantly adding some guitar then disappearing again

FreshPick: Talib Kweli – The Movie
This dude is still a bit underrated for some reason, probably because he is a rapper’s rapper more than the average listener’s favorite rapper. This trailer looks like a must see. Whether you like him or not, you have to respect his grind. Dude has built his label from the ground up, grassroots style, while continuing to drop Quality albums. Go see it when it drops…..

Yup, Young Chris….I know what you’re thinking. This joint is hot and features mr. feature himself, Weezy F. Baby (please say the “baby”). My only gripe with this joint is that Young Chris sounds a little like his old boss (see “Jay-Z”). But once you get past the flow cloning, this is definitely a smokers theme (or whatever your choice drug). Off of the Last Man Standing mixtape, I bring you Paradise.
