Glow – Santa Monica

So last Saturday Santa Monica hosted the first Glow event that California has ever had. Here is a quick low-down on what the event was supposed to entail;

Taking place in the hours between dusk to dawn with compelling, enchanting and effervescent sights and sounds situated in spaces and times that expand possibilities for where, how and when the public experiences contemporary art.

Here is what really went down;

Taking place in the hours between dusk to dawn with confusion, minimal art and annoying ear/eye piercing sights and sounds situated in spaces and times that decrease possibilities for where, how and when the public experiences a lack of contemporary art.

I hate to be sour Sal, but man was I disappointed. I barely saw any art and the art that I did see was a bit over my head(maybe I should’ve engaged in some heavy drug use before attending). But my favorite exibit had to be the glass house (sarcasm). The glass house exibit consisted of a woman sitting inside of a glass house(groundbreaking, I know) with a high pitched noise being emitted out of a pair of 15″ JBL speakers loud enough to kill a small animal and/or alien. After 10 minutes of aimlessly wandering the beach for inspiration, I gave in and went to a bar across the street and hung out with my boy Jack Daniels. Well folks, it was a great idea, but terrible execution. Maybe next time…..
